CAMPI says 37,700 new cars were sold in February

Based on the joint report of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) plus available industry data, total automotive industry sales in February 2026 exceeded 37,700 units, higher than recorded sales of more than 35,000 the previous month.

Of the overall February sales, CAMPI and TMA members contributed a total of 35,842 units, an increase of 6.4% from the organizations’ 33,696 sales achievement in January.

CAMPI president Jose Maria M. Atienza attributed the boost in February auto sales to the improvement in supply – with most brands being able to serve the improved demand for the month.

“We experienced an expected drop in January, partly caused by the leaner supply as an effect of the strong buyer demand we saw in December,” said Atienza.

Atienza also said that compared with January figure, February performance gives a more stable outlook, and is a welcome development after the market drop during the second half of last year.

However, he noted that the middle east conflict is affecting how Filipino motorists choose and use their cars.

Atienza said CAMPI members have been expanding and diversifying their product lineups with energy efficient and electrified options, allowing them to offer more economical options to the customers.

This aligns with the ongoing trend highlighting growing customer preference for electrified vehicles month on month. In February, CAMPI-TMA members sold 3,098 electrified vehicles, 18.7% higher than the 2,610 sold in January.

In terms of market share for February, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) maintained its top position among CAMPI-TMA members with 17,954 units (50%). It is followed by Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) with 7,358 units (20.5%), Suzuki Philippines, Inc. (SPI) with 1,610 (4.5%), Nissan Philippines, Inc. (NPI) with 1,554 units (4.3%), and Ford Motor Company Philippines, Inc. (FMCPI) with 1,335 units (3.7%).
