Mercedes-Benz Philippines launches GLE Plug-In Hybrid

Mercedes-Benz Philippines launches its third plug-in hybrid offering in the form of the new GLE 400 e with EQ Hybrid Technology. The GLE joins the GLC and E-Class in the local line-up as a new number of the three-pointed star’s electrified vehicle offering.

Priced at P 5,790,000, the mid-size premium GLE 400 e packs a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with a 9-speed automatic. Mated with a powerful electric motor, it delivers 252 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. Impressively, it delivers more than 100 kilometers of EV range, and can be charged at up to 11 kW (AC charging). Once the battery’s depleted, it can continue to more than 900 kilometers, equating to freedom for longer journeys.

The GLE 400 e’s 4Matic all-wheel-drive system ensures confident traction across diverse road conditions, while the Dynamic Select drive programs allow for tailored driving experiences—from efficiency-focused electric cruising to performance-oriented dynamics for the open road.

For those who prefer a purely combustion engine setup, the GLE 450 remains in the line-up and this one is powered by a 3.0-liter inline-6 producing 381 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. The GLE 450 also comes with Airmatic air suspension.

The GLE is regarded for its modern luxurious look communicated by its long wheelbase, short overhang proportions, and large flush-fitted wheels. Wearing the AMG Line exterior package, the GLE 400 e features a diamond-patterned grille with the central Mercedes-Benz logo in chrome enhanced by the 21-inch AMG light-alloy wheels. Multibeam LED headlamps provide excellent visibility, adapting to every driving situation for visibility and comfort.

Four exterior colors are on offer: Selenite Gray, High-Tech Silver, Obsidian Black, and Polar White.

Inside, and the GLE 400 e features the MBUX multimedia system with the Widescreen Cockpit display with dual 12.3-inch screens. The cabin is finished in Artico man-made leather upholstery and Microcut microfiber. Brushed aluminum inlays dot the cabin and are capped off by the AMG Sport pedals and floor mats. Other Features include ambient lighting, Augmented Reality Navigation and a Burmester surround sound system. The GLE 450 adds a panoramic sunroof.

For added convenience, the GLE 400 e is equipped with electrically adjustable front and rear seats, with memory function for the driver and front passenger—ensuring a personalized experience every time. Generous cargo capacity, makes it the ideal companion for both weekday commitments and weekend escapes.

Assisting the driver is the GLE 400 e’s blind spot assist system and Active Brake Assist which helps prevent or mitigate accidents by monitoring surrounding traffic and automatically intervening when necessary. This is on top of 9 airbags, a Transparent Bonnet feature with the 360-degree camera (540-degree for the GLE 450), Active Park Assist, and of course, the Pre-Safe system which prepares occupants in the event of an imminent collision, and Active Brake Assist.

Mercedes-Benz founded the premium SUV segment in 1997 with the M-Class. As its spiritual successor, the GLE continues that trend. The “E” emphasizes its positioning as an SUV in the E-Class model family. It remains true to its character as a capable off-roader while also offering the modern design and cutting-edge features that Mercedes-Benz vehicles are known for.
