The successor is here – Meet the all-new Toyota Ativ

Toyota has officially lifted the curtains off the all-new Toyota Ativ. This is the successor to the highly successful Vios that’s been in the country since 2003. The Ativ (ey-tiv) will have three trim grades starting at PHP 916,000. Meanwhile, Toyota will still sell the Vios in more affordable J, XE, and XLE variants.

Size is close between the Vios and all-new Ativ. It has a marginal growth of 4,425mm (+5mm) in length, 1,740mm (+10mm) in width, 1,480mm (+5mm) in height, and 2,620mm (+70mm) in wheelbase. It also sits higher with 160mm of ground clearance in contrast to the Vios’s 133mm.

The Ativ is unarguably more elegant than its predecessor. It looks very close to the current Altis and the previous generation Camry. The refined aesthetic is best shown by the 16-inch alloy wheels on the E and HEV trims, while the G sits on bigger 17-inch wheels. LED headlights are also standard across the range giving the Aitv a more uniform look no matter what trim you get. Auto folding side mirrors are also available for G and HEV, while Sequential Turn Signals are exclusive for the hybrid trim.

Powertrain is the biggest difference in the Ativ’s 3 variants. The E has a 1.3-liter engine producing 98 horses and 122 Nm of pull, available with a manual or CVT. The G has the larger 1.5-liter mill that puts out 106 horses and 138 Nm of torque, exclusively with a CVT. Meanwhile, the HEV presents the most powerful subcompact sedan in Toyota with 111 total horsepower mated to an CVT. It also comes with Eco, Normal, Power, and EV Drive Modes.

The cabin follows the ethos of the Ativ’s exterior. There are more standard bits across the range and they don’t look far apart. More importantly, it’s a big step up against the Vios in terms of material finish and aesthetic. You’ll be happy to know that the 7-inch digital display is now standard, as well as the Automatic Climate Control, Tilt and Telescopic Steering Wheel, Smart Entry System, Push Start Button, and Speed Sensing Door Locks. The screen varies from 10.1-inch with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for the HEV while the G and E have 9-inches, still with AC/AA albeit wired. There’s also a rear air vent for all except the E MT trim.

A few amenities exclusive to the HEV are Leather upholstery, Electronic Parking Brake, Auto Brake Hold, Wireless Charger, and Type-C ports.

In terms of safety, the E gets Front Airbags, along with modern basics like ABS with Brake Assist, EBD, Stability Control, Hill Start Assist Control, Active Traction Control, as well as a Rear Camera. The G gets upgraded with Side and Curtain Shield Airbags, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, 360-camera system, and sensors both Front and Back.

Toyota Safety Sense is of course present in the HEV trim. It includes Pre-Collision System, Automatic High Beam, Lane Tracing Assist, Lane Departure Alert, and Adaptive Cruise Control.

‘The all-new Toyota Ativ is another statement of Toyota’s continued mission to bring electrified mobility within reach of more Filipinos. We know choosing your first car, and an electrified model at that, can be a bold decision, so the Ativ makes it simple and easy by delivering modern HEV features, while providing peace of mind with reliability, safety, ease of ownership, and joy of use,” said Elijah Marcial, Toyota Motor Philippines First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Operations.

See the all-new Toyota Vios Ativ in the BGC Amphitheater in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig for its public launch on October 24-26, 2025.
