Quarantine passes no longer needed in GCQ areas, movement limited to essential travel – Año

Quarantine passes will no longer be needed when going out to buy essential goods and services in areas under general community quarantine (GCQ), Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said on Thursday.

In an interview with CNN, Año discussed the guidelines in the event Metro Manila transitions to a more relaxed GCQ on June 1.

“Hindi na kailangan ng quarantine pass. Kasi ang ating GCQ ay nakita na natin hindi na siya ECQ o total lockdown. Ang GCQ ang tinitingnan na lang natin dito… kaya mayroon pa rin tayong tinatawag na mga minimum health standards,” Año said.

Año, however, clarified that movement around areas under GCQ must be for buying essential goods and services only.

“Kailangan pa rin ‘yung tinatawag natin na essential no. Kasi, it doesn’t mean na pwede na… ay lahat pwede nang lumabas no. Sinabi lang natin na pwede na silang makaikot-ikot kasi ang ibig sabihin nun, essential,” Año said.

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Diseases formally recommended to President Duterte to place Metro Manila under GCQ.
