Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX stirs small ADV market in the Philippines

Unveiled in 2017 and meant for the Asian market, Suzuki Philippines has finally brought in the V-Strom 250. It was previewed at the second Inside Racing Performance and Lifestyle Expo that happened during the final weekend before November. The one we got was the latest version of the smallest ‘Strom, the V-Strom 250 SX which was introduced in India earlier this year.

Being the smallest in “The Master of Adventure” lineup, the V-Strom 250 SX resembles the bigger members of the V-Strom family, particularly seen in the lighting elements, beak-like front fairing, and the windscreen. Even the color was adopted from the bigger brothers, namely the Champion Yellow.

Despite the V in the name, the V-Strom isn’t powered by a V-twin engine. Rather, it’s propelled by a 250cc oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine, the same one found in the Gixxer 250. This mill churns out up to 26.15hp at 9,300rpm and 22.2Nm of torque at 7,300rpm, coupled to a six-speed constant mesh manual transmission.

In terms of size, the new V-Strom 250 SX measures 2,180mm long, 880mm wide, and 1,355mm tall. It has a 1,440mm wheelbase and 205mm of ground clearance. Meanwhile, seat height is at 835mm, and curb weight is 167 kg – both of which should be manageable for an average-sized Filipino rider. The fuel tank has a capacity of 12 liters.

The Suzuki V-Strom 250 comes with standard telescopic forks with 120mm of travel and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock. The wheels measure  19 inches at the front and 17 inches at the back – both come with disc brakes and dual-channel ABS.

As mentioned, the new Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX showcased last week was just a preview, with the bike set to be available by January 2023. Suzuki Philippines announced that it’s priced at P229,000 and interested buyers may now put down a reservation. Apart from the flagship Champion Yellow colorway, it’s also available in Glass Sparkle Black.
