QC gov’t opens two new zipper lanes along Commonwealth Avenue

The local government of Quezon City has opened two new zipper lanes along Commonwealth Avenue to alleviate the traffic congestion in the area during rush hours.

In an advisory, the Quezon City government said that the ‘AM Zipper Lane’ from Regalado Highway to Camaro Street will be open from 5:30 a.m to 8:00 a.m. while the ‘PM Zipper Lane’ from Fairlane Street to Regalado Highway will be open from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Both zipper lanes will be accessible to motorists from Mondays to Saturdays.

However, the local government said that only light vehicles and motorcycles will be allowed to use the zipper lane.

Aside from that, all vehicles must stay in the middle of the lane while overtaking along the zipper lane is also prohibited.

The local government also reminded motorists to pay close attention to the Quezon City and MMDA traffic enforcers in the area as traffic signal lights along the zipper lanes will be on “flashing mode.”
