As you plan your weekend travel, be mindful about not just the weather but the roads scheduled for repair this weekend. Motorists are advised by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to take alternate routes in light of announced roadworks.

The following lanes of EDSA have been undergoing repairs since 11 p.m. last night, the agency said: fifth lane from sidewalk of EDSA southbound fronting Sojen and Chevrolet, or near Congressional Avenue; third, fourth and outer lanes of EDSA southbound KM 25+816 to KM 25+876.80; part of EDSA southbound from Eugenio Lopez Drive to Scout Borromeo due to desilting and construction of manhole; EDSA southbound between West Avenue and Philam Village for restoration and concreting work; and first lane from sidewalk of EDSA northbound before New York Street.

The southbound truck lane of Katipunan Avenue from Raja Matanda to Boni Serrano Tunnel will also be closed for reblocking.

Also being fixed are the westbound lane of General Luis Street in Novaliches, Quezon City (before Oriental Tin Cans) and northbound lane of C-5 Road, from CP Garcia Avenue approaching Kalayaan Avenue Extension.

The road repairs are supposed to be completed by 5 a.m. on Monday, August 5, the MMDA noted. – Ghio Ong/STAR
