The dry run of banning provincial buses along EDSA is expected to be implemented next week.

In a DZMM interview. Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) general manager Jose Arturo Garcia Jr. said that that the tentative date for the bus ban has been set for either August 6 or 7.

Garcia also said that the MMDA will meet with other government offices like the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board “to check if new routes have been fixed.“

He added, “Even if it is only a dry run, we do not want no means of transfer for our commuters from the provinces.”

The STAR reported that the MMDA will implement Metro Manila Council Resolution 19-002, ordering local government units in Metro Manila to cancel business permits of bus terminals operating along EDSA.

The government has designated bus terminals in Valenzuela City, Sta. Rosa City in Laguna, the Araneta bus terminal in Cubao, Quezon City, and the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange. – With Ghio Ong/STAR
