P1.6B SFEX expansion project signed

Traffic flow and road safety along Subic Freeport Expressway (SFEX) should improve with an expansion project signed by NLEX Corporation and Sta. Clara International Corporation last Monday.

The P1.6-billion agreement paving the way for the SFEX Capacity Expansion Project will entail the construction of two additional expressway lanes, two bridges at Jadjad and Argonaut, and a tunnel that aims to increase the vehicular capacity of the Subic Bay Freeport.

Expressway-standard LED lights will also be installed along the SFEX to ensure the safety of motorists, especially those driving at night.

The project is expected to promote road safety and alleviate traffic congestion, while separating motorists traversing the northbound and southbound lanes of SFEX.

NLEX Corporation said that the project is also seen to complement the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority’s infrastructure development program which includes the widening of roads, the construction of an SBMA Corporate Center, and the improvement of airport and seaport.
