Marcos Bridge closure postponed indefinitely

The eastbound portion of the Marcos Bridge in Marikina will remain open to motorists after the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) indefinitely postponed its scheduled rehabilitation work.

The MMDA decided to once again defer the closure of the bridge after the private contractors of the rehabilitation project failed to accomplish the necessary preparations — such as providing for traffic signs — for the rerouting scheme that should minimize the disruption it would cause to commuters and motorists.

MMDA general manager Jojo Garcia said that he will meet with the private contractors next week for an update on the preparations to assess If the bridge would be ready for its rehabilitation works.

The closure was initially scheduled for May 4, then May 11.
